Ocean Springs

Once called Old Biloxi, Ocean Springs, Mississippi was the actual landing site of French explorer Pierre le Moyne d'Iberville, in 1699, where he established Fort Maurepas. In the 1880s the first tourists began to arrive, and the rest is history. Today, Ocean Springs, Mississippi is an active artists' colony, where an icon of the art world lived. The unique artwork of Walter Anderson is on display at the Walter Anderson Museum, and Peter Anderson continued the family tradition with popular Shearwater Pottery, where beautiful hand crafted items are made.
