Greenville
Greenville, Mississippi rests easily
on the banks of the Mississippi River, and is a large hub
of commerce. Since it's founding in 1828, the city has served
as the trading center and manufacturing nucleus for the small
agrarian communities in the Delta. Among the top five largest
cities in Mississippi, Greenville is home to a myriad of cultural
backgrounds, and boasts the largest number of writers per
capita than any other city in the US. Traditionally linked
to agriculture, the production of catfish now rivals cotton
in economic impact, and modern casinos provide entertainment
along the river. The Great River Road runs through it, area
museums tell its story, and one of the nation's most unique
visitors center, the River Road Queen, welcomes travelers
to Greenville, Mississippi and our state.
