Southhaven / Horn Lake / Hernando

DeSoto County was formed in 1836 and has a long history of exploration. Hernando was named for the discoverer of the Mississippi River, Spanish explorer Hernando DeSoto, and serves as the county seat. Horn Lake, named for its location on a scenic natural horn-shaped lake, is most famous for the site of the honeymoon cottage of Elvis and Pricilla Presley. Just south of Memphis is Southaven, Mississippi gateway city to the state on the I-55 corridor. Here, visitors will enjoy a tour of early 20th century Snowden House, and sports enthusiasts will be thrilled with Dulins Sports Academy, which features professional sports instruction, family games, miniature golf, a rock-climbing wall, and baseball museum. At nearby Nesbit, you'll find Bonne Terre Country Inn and Restaurant. This elegant country-style inn is furnished with antiques and offers a pool, gardens for strolling, fly-fishing, and soothing massages. Also at Nesbit is the home of Rock and Roll legend, Jerry Lee Lewis. His ranch is open for tours, year-round.
