Highway 61 Tour
Somewhere along this famous highway, a young man named Robert
Johnson came to a crossroad. Legend says he made a deal with
the devil - his eternal soul for the ability to wail some
serious blues.
Now nobody knows if this legendary event
really happened. What we do know for certain is that Robert
Johnson sired the music genre known as the Delta Blues and
has long been recognized as one of its leading influences.
Today, you can tour the land where the
blues was born - the Mississippi Delta - with a road trip
down Highway 61. This tour takes you to the neon lights of
Las Vegas-style casinos with championship golf courses and
resort facilities; through the rich, flat lands of the Delta
into historic river towns, antebellum mansions and the magic
of music, moonlight and magnolias. Somewhere along the way
- no one knows the exact spot - you'll pass the legendary
crossroads that played such an important role in the life
of a man called the "King of the Delta Blues Singers".
