Starkville

Named for Revolutionary War hero, General John Stark, the city of Starkville, Mississippi received its town charter in 1837, but activity by white settlers began as early as 1820. Nestled in the foothills of east central Mississippi, Starkville offers a well-rounded, thriving culture that sets a new standard in commerce, education, technology, and lifestyle. Mississippi State University is home to the new John Grisham Room, dedicated to one of the state's most prolific writers. Adjacent to the university is Mississippi's first Research and Technology Park, which makes it one of the nation's top research universities. Starkville, Mississippi boasts a friendly and affordable small-town atmosphere with an unexpected sophistication, where a myriad of dining, shopping, recreational, and cultural opportunities exist.
