This recreation area was originally built to provide water for Ashe Nursery. The 8 acre lake is shallow with the deepest area about 15 feet deep. Visitors may catch bass, bream, catfish, and carp. Facilities include picnic tables, pavilion, fire rings, two chemical toilets (SST’s), 10 hole Disc Golf Course, .4 mile nature trail, and fishing pier. Ashe Lake is open year-round unless weather conditions require the area to be closed. Ashe Lake is a fee area. The fee station is located just beyond the entrance gate. No attendant will be on duty. Therefore, users should make sure that they have correct currency before arriving at the recreation area. From Hattiesburg, take HWY 49 south to Brooklyn; take Ashe Nursery Rd south to Forest Service Road 308; continue south ¼ mile to lake.
