Marion County Wildlife Management Area Birding and Wildlife Viewing

This area has been known for producing excellent deer, quail, and turkey habitats partly because of its regular fire regime and intensive land management. Endangered species, such as the gopher tortoise, black pine snake, indigo snake, and several other reptiles such as the eastern diamondback rattlesnake and box turtles inhabit the area. During the spring and fall migrations, birders can see a variety of warblers, tanagers, vireos, flycatchers, thrushes, and sparrows.
