International Museum of Muslim Cultures

America's first and only Islamic History and Cultural Museum is located in Jackson's downtown Arts District. The Museum is dedicated to educating the American public about Islamic history and culture, the contribution of Muslims to the global community and the diversity of the Muslim community: past, present and future, including highlighting Metropolitan Jackson and the state's rich and diverse cultural and religious heritage. IMMC's second exhibition, The Legacy of Timbuktu, opened November 2006 featuring ancient Timbuktu manuscripts uncovering Africa's literate culture, and celebrating this glorious age of learning and great empire building. Also on display is the Museum's inaugural Islamic Moorish Spain Exhibition.
