The Jaketown Museum chronicles the Jaketown site located north of Belzoni on State Hightway 7 from the Late Archaic Period (1750 BC - 500 BC) through the period (500 BC - 1000 AD) . People lived at this site during these periods, as evidenced by artifacts that have been found there. The museum displays the huts that these people lived in and by the artifacts show that they lived a very simple life. Samples of some of the tools hunter used to hunt the wild animal can be viewed, along with beautiful beads, gorgets, effigies that had been brought from great distances, since there are no stones native to the area.
