Mary C O'Keefe Cultural Center

Visitors to Ocean Springs have a wonderful opportunity at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center. The building was once an old schoolhouse but was made into a cultural center complete with classrooms for pottery lessons, woodcarving and oil painting lessons, a music studio and a performing arts stage. Inside the Cultural Center is a first-rate cooking school sponsored by Viking and the IP Casino Resort & Spa. The state-of-the-art kitchen has beautiful handmade art, all by local artists and available for purchase. The culinary classes range from beginning skills in the kitchen to inspiring hands-on workshops to learn the basics of cuisine from other cultures and to challenge cooks with new techniques and cooking styles. In the café you will see volunteers lending a hand and these special culinary volunteers have a special name. They are called “The Julias.”
