The home of Civil War General Stephen D. Lee was built in 1847 and is furnished with period pieces. Following the war, Lee became the first president of Mississippi A&M, now Mississippi State University. A preservationist, he was instrumental in establishing what would become Vicksburg National Military Park.
The Stephen D. Lee home was restored in 1960 by the Historical Society and the Society for Preservation of Antiquities. It is now a public home and museum exhibiting Civil War collections and Artifacts.
