Mitchell Farms

These are some of the things you will enjoy and learn about at Mitchell Farms. Our cabins, the new Banquet Barn, and other buildings have been built from timber found here on our land. That timber is cut and sized on our own saw mill, and the buildings designed and constructed by the Mitchell family using this timber. Tours are available year round, and content will vary by season. Children will travel by wagon through the fields to learn about our vegetables, blueberries, timber, and life on the farm. This is a working farm growing peanuts, corn, wheat, and soybeans, plus a large acreage of pick your own vegetables and blueberries available when in season. Each fall join us for "Fun Fall Festivities" beginning in Oct thru Nov. Call for scheduled events. Facilities available for weddings and other special occasions.

It was here, on August 24, 1955, that Emmett Till whistled at the white woman who co-owned the store with her husband, violating the racial mores of the time. The event precipitated the murder of Till by the woman's husband and brother-in-law. The murder of Emmett Till is often considered the catalyst for the Civil Rights movement.
