Pearl River (Upper and Lower) is an excellent example of a large Gulf Coastal Plain river with extensive swamplands. The upper reaches are very scenic as the river twists and turn and in many places flows past excellent recreational sandbars and huge cypress trees. The ecosystems along this river support numerous endangered, threatened and rare wildlife species.
