Operated by the United States Forest Service, POW Lake Recreation Area is located within the De Soto National Forest. This camp once was used to house German & Italian prisoners during World War II and later used as a Navy rifle range, now only old ammunition bunkers and a few foundations remain. Camp sites are available on a first come first serve basis and unnumbered with a 7 day stay limit. There is a 7 acre lake and fishing is allowed. Note: All National Forest Campgrounds do not allow alcohol. Non-fee campground.
Prentiss Walker Lake is a 81 acre lake located in Smith County, 4 mi. SW of Mize off Hwy 35. For information about Prentiss Walker Lake, please call 601-733-2611
21 camping pads with electrical/water hookups. Two cabins available for rent with dump station onsite. Each cabin is a two-bedroom unit with one queen and one full size bed. Linens are not provided. Kitchens are stocked with basic cookware and dinnerware.
