Washington County Welcome Center

May is "Music Month" in Mississippi. Music will be displayed at the Welcome Center during May. Mississippi is known for the Blues and we are located in Greenville with one of the oldest Blues Festivals in Mississippi. We will display a map of the Blues Trail Markers and famous musicians from Mississippi. If you are traveling in Mississippi during May, please stop at the Welcome Center and enjoy some down home Blues.
THE HISTORY OF WASHINGTON COUNTY WELCOME CENTER
The Washington County Welcome Center was originally a project created by the City of Greenville to participate in the 1984 World’s Fair in New Orleans. After the World's Fair in 1985, this replica of a 19th century steamboat was taken apart and brought back to Greenville to serve as a tourist center. The replica now sits in eighteen inches of water and serves as one of the state's most unique Welcome Centers.
