DeSoto County Welcome Center
DeSoto County Welcome Center will be promoting Music during the Month of May. There will be a display featuring Mississippi Music artists, we will be showing music videos from MS artists, and give out Blues Trail information.
The Welcome center will celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week May 4, 2013-May 12, 2013. During National Travel and Tourism Week on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 David Dunavant a local musician will be playing live blues. We will have door prizes giveaways throughout the month.
THE HISTORY OF DESOTO COUNTY WELCOME CENTER
The DeSoto County Welcome Center opened September 1976. Like the state's other Welcome Centers, its architecture reflects the antebellum South, including details such as moldings, trim and brickwork common to the antebellum period.
The Center received minor renovations in 1984, and underwent extensive renovations in 1999 and 2000. New restrooms, walking paths and landscaping were added.
