AlcornIn 1994, the State of Mississippi began building Welcome Centers on the major highways coming into the State. With the intersection of Highway 72 and Highway 45, Corinth had two major roads coming into the State in North Mississippi. It was an ideal place for a Welcome Center. The object of the Welcome Center is to furnish a place for information about the State, the attractions, refreshments, directions, and hotel reservations.

Alcorn Located at 2028 South Tate Street, Corinth, Mississippi the work began March 1996 and completed in July 1998, a little over two and one half years. April 27, 1998, the doors officially opened for the Alcorn County Welcome Center with State and Local Officials, First Lady Pat Fordice, Mississippi Department of Economic and Community Development, Executive Director Jimmy Heidel, Northern Highway Commissioner Zack Stewart, Welcome Center Manager Rosie Herron, AlcornSenator Travis Little, Representative Harvey Moss, Representative Billy McCoy, Alcorn County Supervisor Lamar Fields and Mayor Jerry Latch addressed the large crowd in front of the $3.4 million building (including road improvements and landscaping) built in the traditional Mississippi Colonial Style decorated with antiques primarily from the 1800's that brings to mind a cozy Southern home rather than the typical rest stop.

The Center is open seven (7) days a week with hours from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Years Day each year.
